It IS possible to make a rare and refined mezcal which comes with the kick of a mule, and the “Memorable Mezcal Artesenal Joven 100% Madrecuishe Agave” is the living proof. Made by mezcaleros Antonio Cortes at his palenque in Miahuatlan or by Felipe Hernandez at his palenque in Las Salinas Coatecas, these mezcals are truly high quality. Some agaves used for mezcal are quite rare, but the wild harvested Madrecuishe agaves used here grow abundantly in the area. The Maguey Madrecuishe (Madre-Cuixe, Madrecuixe) is part of the Karwinskii family that also includes agave Cuishe, Cirial, and Tobasiche.
Madrecuishe has a dense core and low water content. Mezcal made from agave Madre-Cuishe typically has high minerality with vegetal and floral notes and this mezcal is no exception.

Tasting Notes

“Light and elegant” are the main words that come to mind. With finely tuned mint, wood, mineral on the nose, it displays almost feminine qualities.
The palate is rich with earth, mineral, light fruit and sweetness on the palate and a nice tingling mint finish.
