Description
There is an art to picking the right barrel for aging your tequila. “El Amo” means “The master” and when the barrels were picked for this particular brand, a great deal of tequilero knowledge went into it. New barrels tend to give the tequila a lot of flavor and colour, simply because they are new.
You do not wish that in a reposado, because the ideal reposado is just that – “reposado” meaning “rested”. It is meant to have a slight touch of aging, and still be a fresh tequila with aromas of spices and baked agave. That is why, they went for used barrels, when they put the El Amo tequila together. It still has the freshness of youth with a hint of experience added in.
