Maguey Tobasiche (Tobaziche) is a member of the agave Karwinskii family. Depending on region, the names Tobaziche and Largo may be referring to the same plant. The agave looks really “bushy” with long narrow leaves when it is mature. It grows in rocky dry ground, which gives the mezcals made from it a distinct mineral and grassy note.
“Memorable Mezcal Artesenal Joven 100% Tobasiche Agave” is a very complex mezcal where care has been taken to make a lot of different flavours work with each other to create a rich tapestry of Oaxacan tasting notes.
The aromas are amazingly fresh with notes of ginger root and eucalyptus. Herbaceous aromas with notes of clover and lemongrass. There is sweetness and smoke, ofcourse, but it blends perfectly and seamlessly with all the other wonderful sensations. The nose is light and floral with honey, nectarines and earthy flavours.
The palate gives off a thick and oily mouthfeel and holds floral notes with honey, minerals, earthy and peppers.
This is a mezcal for the cultivated person. With focus on complexity and richness in experience this mezcal lends itself very well to slow enjoyment. Drink it with a good, not too heavy lunch or sip it in the evening in company with good friends.
