Brand background

Tequila 30-30 derives its name from one of the biggest heroes of the Mexican Revolution, “Pancho Villas”. Pancho Villas, whose real name was Doroteo Arango, was a true man of the people and helped liberate Mexico twice in the civil war 1910-1920. Born as a son of a peasant, he was forced into banditry when he shot a hacienda owner, who had raped his sister. He joined the revolution process as a military leader, but always remembering his loyalty to the poor people. Bringing down the dictator Porfirio Diaz and later helping topple the successor, Madero, he became for a short period the most popular leader in the bloody, gruesome and messy civil war.
While there are numerous tequilas named in honor of his name, he neither drank nor smoked. Tequila 30-30 is named after the favorite rifle of Pancho Villa, the “Winchester 30-30”. Pancho Villas died a true mexican politicians death – he was assasinated by persons unknown.

Overall tasting profile

The 30-30 is a robust and well made product, which has kept a bit of the bite, that we like in a traditional tequila. It has a full baked agave flavor and the anejo and extra anejos are soft and with a fine sweetness that never turns into caramel. It is a true tequila for the followers of Pancho Villas.
